My Philosophy of Education
There is no job more important than that of a teacher.
It is my responsibility to meet my students where they are, both academically and socially, and provide them with a toolbox of knowledge and strategies they can utilize as they make their way through school and life. I must prepare my students to be good citizens and to value education. It is imperative that I make connections with my students by having empathy and being genuinely interested in who they are. Being aware of the whole child is critical to designing the most appropriate pathways for individual success.

Classroom Management
~ In order for students to show good citizenship and growth, a classroom that is organized and structured with clear expectations is a must.
~I use S.O.P’s and involve students in creating a class Code of Cooperation so they are as invested as I am.
~ Using Restorative Practices helps my students take ownership of their choices.
Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
~It is my job to make the learning targets and standards transparent to students and help them monitor their own progress through timely feedback.
~I use on-going assessment to inform and guide my instruction.
~Students have voice and choice in how they can show proficiency
~I value working with colleagues to provide learning experiences that allow for creativity and are student- centered.
~I look for ways to incorporate technology into my classroom on a daily basis (Ex: Google Classroom and data-driven programs)
Relationships
• I believe in creating environments based on compassion and respect to motivate and inspire my students to reach their personal best.
• I am a team player and work collaboratively for the best interest of all students, not just those I work directly with.
• I establish trust and open lines of communication with families.
