Introduction

Hello! My name is Ben Ferguson, and this year, I will be the grades 6 - 8 Gifted and Talented English teacher at Windham Middle School. I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2015 with a dual degree in English and Geology, and since then I have crossed the country three times on foot, cycled from coast to coast raising money and awareness for affordable housing, and spent half a year backpacking throughout New Zealand. Though this is my first year teaching in my own middle school classroom, I have eight years of experience teaching art, ceramics, skiing, cooking, writing, and farming. In 2023 I returned to school and completed a rigorous 9-month teacher certification program with the University of Southern Maine; simultaneously, I spent a year student-teaching, substituting, and supporting in South Portland Middle and High Schools. I am excited to join the Windham teacher team for the 2024 - 2025 school year!
